Pakistan Journal of Kidney Disease (PJKD)
The Pakistan Journal of Kidney Disease (PJKD) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. All submitted manuscripts are screened for plagiarism to ensure originality and proper attribution.
1. Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:
- Copying text, ideas, images, or data without proper citation
- Paraphrasing content without acknowledgment
- Self-plagiarism (reuse of one’s own previously published work without disclosure)
- Duplicate or redundant publication
2. Screening Process
All manuscripts submitted to PJKD are checked using recognized plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin or iThenticate before peer review.
3. Acceptable Similarity Index
- Overall similarity should be ≤15%
- Similarity from a single source should not exceed 5%
- Exclusions may apply for references, standard methods, and commonly used phrases
4. Actions in Case of Plagiarism
- Minor similarity (within limits): Manuscript proceeds to review
- Moderate similarity (15–25%): Authors will be asked to revise and resubmit
- High similarity (>25%): Immediate rejection
If plagiarism is detected after publication:
- The article may be retracted
- Authors’ institutions may be notified
- Authors may be blacklisted for future submissions
5. Author Responsibilities
Authors must:
- Submit only original work
- Properly cite all sources
- Provide plagiarism reports if requested
- Disclose any prior publication or submission
6. Editorial Responsibilities
The editorial team ensures:
- Fair and unbiased plagiarism screening
- Confidential handling of manuscripts
- Adherence to international ethical standards
7. Ethical Compliance
PJKD follows the guidelines and best practices recommended by international publishing ethics bodies to ensure transparency, integrity, and quality in scholarly publishing.
